Not only did the success of our crowdfunding campaign dramatically change the scale of our intended production run, it also gave us the opportunity to further refine the product before sending samples to off-grid households and crowdfunders to test around the world.
These additional developments included:
A ‘protection overload’ mechanism to let people know if they had over-loaded the bag. This helped visually demonstrate the optimum weight of the bag as well as warn when people risked breaking GravityLight with too much weight.
To spread light around the home and add task lights to GravityLight’s ambient light, we designed ‘SatLights’. These lights could be attached to a DC jack at the back and meant that people could read or work by a focused beam of light.
